๐• browser extension

Mass-unfollow inactive accounts safely from inside ๐•.

The FuturePost browser extension adds a mass-unfollow tool directly inside x.com. It's free for every account, Free, Starter, Pro, and Team.

Installing

  1. Open the Extension page (linked from the sidebar in the dashboard).
  2. Click Add to Chrome (or your browser's equivalent).
  3. Once installed, navigate to x.com and click the extension icon to open the popup.

On first open, sign in with the same FuturePost account you use for the web app. The extension uses your existing session, no extra password.

The unfollow tool

The popup shows everyone you follow on ๐•, with filters to narrow down candidates for unfollowing.

  • Inactive: accounts that haven't posted in 7+, 14+, 30+, 60+, or 90+ days.
  • Followers: filter by follower count (e.g. accounts under 100 followers).
  • Verified: show only or hide verified accounts.
  • Protect mutuals: keep anyone who follows you back off the unfollow list. On by default.

Safety limits

๐• imposes a per-15-minute rate limit (about 50 follow/unfollow actions) and a soft daily ceiling. Going over either can flag your account as "aggressive", temporary suspension is real.

We enforce these limits for you:

  • 5โ€“12 second random delay between each unfollow (looks human, stays under ๐•'s short-term throttle).
  • 5โ€“8 minute cooldown every 45 unfollows (keeps us under the per-15-minute window).
  • Hard cap of 400 unfollows/day. The extension blocks you from going further until the next day.
  • If ๐• returns a 429 rate-limit error, we pause 5 minutes and retry.
  • If 3 unfollows fail in a row (non-rate-limit), the batch stops to protect your account.

Running an unfollow batch

  1. Apply filters to narrow the list.
  2. Click Select All or tick individual rows.
  3. Hit Unfollow Selected.
  4. A confirmation modal shows the estimated time and any safety warnings (e.g. "you'll hit the daily limit if you continue").
  5. Confirm. Progress is shown inline at the top of the popup; you can close the popup or browse ๐• normally while it runs.
  6. Stop anytime with the Stop button, the in-flight unfollow finishes, then nothing else runs.

What gets tracked

Every successful unfollow is logged to your FuturePost account so you have an audit trail. Open Settings โ†’ Tools in the web app to see your unfollow history.

Free tier note

The extension is unlimited even on Free, we don't cap unfollow counts at the FuturePost level (only at ๐•'s real-world safety limit). Use it as much as you want.
