Composing posts

Drafts, scheduling, threads, polls, and link posts.

The composer is where you write posts, threads, and polls. This page covers every option you'll find inside it.

Drafts vs. scheduled vs. published

Every post in your library is in one of these states:

  • Draft: saved but not scheduled. No credit cost, no time limit, edit freely.
  • Scheduled: saved with a future publish time. Credits are deducted when you schedule. You can still edit until the publish window arrives.
  • Posted: already published to ๐•. Can't be edited here (edit on ๐• itself if you have Premium).
  • Failed: we tried to publish but ๐• rejected it. You'll see the reason and a button to reschedule.

Scheduling

Hit Schedule Post at the top of the composer to pick a date and time. Times are interpreted in your team's time zone (set in Account settings).

The minimum lead time is one minute in the future. Past that, you can schedule as far ahead as you want.

Threads

Under the main composer, click Add post to start a thread. Each thread part is a separate 280-character tweet. When you publish, we post the parent first, then each child as a reply to the previous one.

Each thread post counts as its own credit. A 5-tweet thread with no links costs 5 credits. A 5-tweet thread where the first post contains a link costs 1 + 15 + 1 + 1 + 1 = 19 credits.

Posts with links (link posts)

Any post that contains a URL counts as a link post. Link posts cost 15 credits instead of 1 because ๐• charges us roughly 13ร— more on the API for posts with URLs.

The Free plan can't send link posts at all, you'll see a clear message in the composer if you try. Paid plans handle them seamlessly.

A quote tweet doesn't count as a link post, the embedded tweet URL is rendered as a card, not a regular link.

Polls

Click the poll icon in the composer toolbar. You can have 2โ€“4 options and pick a duration of 5 min to 7 days. Polls require Pro or higher.

Media (images & video)

Drag and drop images directly into the composer, or click the image icon to browse. You can attach up to 4 images per post.

  • Supported: JPG, PNG, GIF, WEBP for images. MP4 for video.
  • Max 5 MB per image, up to 4 per post.
  • Edit images right in the composer, crop, rotate, add image tags. See Media gallery for storage and gallery features.

Quote tweets

Paste any tweet URL into the composer (or use the quote-tweet button) to attach it as a quote. We render a preview right in the composer so you can see what it'll look like.

Reply settings

Under the more menu, set who can reply: everyone, only people you follow, or only people you mention.

Disclosure flags

  • Paid partnership: adds a ๐• paid-partnership label to your post. Required by ๐• if your post is sponsored.
  • Made with AI: adds ๐•'s AI-disclosure label.

Auto-retweet & auto-plug

On Pro and Team plans, you can attach automation to any post, a delayed self-retweet to surface it again, or a reply with your link/plug. See Auto-retweet & auto-plug.

Publishing immediately

Hit Publish (instead of Schedule Post) to send it out right now. We'll show a confirmation modal first, it can't be undone once it goes live.
